George Washington once said, “If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.” This is as true today as it was when he said it. As a people, we must make sure our voices are heard. The question becomes, do we have the correct information to voice or are we just voicing others opinions? I have had many conversations with people in which all they know are the talking points they heard from Fox News or CNN. They don’t even try to think for themselves. What makes the news correct? Nothing. The news outlets slant stories to suit their personal opinions. As freethinking people (or at least we should be), we should search out the truth and form our own opinions.
This site isn’t intended to be a political forum. I’m not here to make you see things my way. Sure my opinions will be here but it doesn’t matter if you agree with them or not. That’s the beauty of it. We don’t have to agree to have a debate about issues. I don’t watch the news, period. I don’t trust them. No, I don’t wear a tinfoil hat and hide in the basement nor do I dance naked in the woods singing Kumbayah. I read articles from multiple sources and formulate my thoughts. Sure, these sources still may lean left or right, but I like to think I can decipher the fertilizer out. I may get things wrong at times but no one is perfect. I have never claimed to be.
So why visit this site? Well my hope is to engage others in a respectful, civilized way to learn from each other. I know that’s asking a lot from the internet but I believe it can be done. All I ask is that conversations be based on facts and not feelings. Let’s remove how the heart feels and see what the brain knows. Only then can we become Lions,
Don’t be a sheep,
